Hey Daryll! Could you please start by telling us about your role on the team at Judy?

Judy is a small, scrappy team. I was hired as the social media manager, but had a background in other things, including design and marketing. So I quickly took on a lot more responsibilities on the job, and now get involved in almost everything which touches brand & marketing.

And how involved do you get on the eCommerce side?

Quite a bit. I’ve been at Judy for one year, and we launched 2 years ago with the help of Red Antler. And just recently as July of 2021, we went through a little bit of an overhaul with Solwey Consulting Website Development Group to build off the customer feedback we were receiving. Since then - we’ve been in a really good place, where we no longer need heavy duty development resources, we just need small updates, ongoing maintenance and custom landing pages - which is how we connected with Storetasker and Builder.

Why did you settle on Builder for landing pages?

We had a call with our developer over the summer, the one who worked on Judy 2.0. And we asked him to quote us for ongoing landing page work, and he told us that even though he was obviously capable of doing that, working with Builder.io might save us all a lot of time, effort and money.

Since then, we’ve used Builder for 20-40 landing pages for every type of objective: New PDPs, quick product launches, bundles etc. I can’t say enough great things about the Builder team - they have the best customer support team in the world.

And how did you decide on using Storetasker?

Once we were using Builder, we desperately needed an extra layer of assistance. Even though my team and I could build out the design frameworks we wanted - we needed a developer to integrate the landing pages with the Shopify backend. We asked Builder if they knew of any freelancers, and they recommended us to you. And it was a match made in heaven.

The match made in heaven: Storetasker x Builder

*Blushing* that’s really great to hear! So could you explain what you did on Storetasker?

We got paired with Logan Gelzer, a Shopify and Builder expert. Being an expert in both technologies was key because we did have some bugs that we had to fix on our main theme in Shopify and we also needed someone to help us navigate Builder. Since then we've worked with Logan on 6 different projects ranging from landing page builds, to promo strategy, to solving cart malfunctions on our main Shopify theme.

Even right before black Friday this year, he helped us figure out a LOT. Everything from strategy and planning, to “SOS: Have you ever seen this before?”. That's the best part of having someone who you talk with consistently and who can work on both implementation and strategy. We really needed someone to tell us what could be achieved from a backend standpoint and what would be the easiest paths to take.

In every email I tell him jokingly: “Thank you. You are our savior”. It makes a difference when you have someone like that by your side.

I’ll be sure to pass on your kind words to Logan. We love him too! Just one last question from me: What’s your advice for D2Cs when it comes to landing pages?

Something we learned this year is that landing pages make all of the difference, especially when it comes to the lovely Facebook and Instagram channels.

We're also learning that it's definitely a collaborative process between different team members. You need to get everyone to sing to the same tune, from the people building your pages, to the people running your ads. That enables you to get hyper-focused. For example: We know which specific messaging works for specific regions - based on the natural disasters that might impact them. We tailor the message from the ad, down to the landing page and customize the full conversion cycle.

One more thing: Once you’ve built your landing page, leave many extra days for testing and QA. That’s another area where Storetasker’s been instrumental. We’ve been testing with up to 7 different versions of the same landing page and to do that successfully and make sure that every single discount code was automatically applied in the backend -  We needed an expert to double-check every piece before the pages get served to thousands of people on the internet. We learned that the hard way.

Thank you for sharing those insights Daryll - We love Judy and we’re proud to be a part of your team.
