Welcome Marisa! What’s the mission at PerfectTed?
Our mission at PerfectTed is to spread positive energy through Matcha Green Tea, and we're doing that with 2 products: Our Matcha energy drink, and our matcha powder.
And when did the business start?
We've been actually working on the business since October 2020. But we officially launched our brand in April 2021 via Kickstarter. And we launched the drinks in October 2021.
Was Kickstarter a good decision?
It really helped prove that there was demand for matcha-based products in the UK. It’s also a great way to gain early adopters and get some non-dilutive funding. We hit our £10,000 goal in 24 hours which helped us fund our first production run. And we never raised again until we recently appeared on Dragon’s Den.
What’s been your approach to DTC?
On our DTC side, we first focused on the matcha powder, as drinks are often too expensive to sell via DTC because of the weight & shipping costs.
Our first site was beautiful - but it didn’t convert. So as we geared up for our spike in traffic via Dragons’ Den, we knew we needed help and that’s how we got in touch with Storetasker.
And what’s been your experience like with Storetasker?
We were matched with Mark, and he was just the most phenomenal partner to help us build a site that truly converts and has a seamless path to purchase.
Love to hear it. What were some of the most impactful changes to the site?
Our 2 step checkout process was the most important addition. As well the addition of a very visual “side cart”: Enabling our customers to see their products go into their cart definitely has great psychological advantages.
Last question for me: What would you attribute your success to on PerfectTed?
Our grit as a team. We're really incredibly hardworking people and I'm confident we have a great product. As a team, we’ve put everything into PerfectTed, we haven’t stopped pushing since day 1, we won’t stop until our products are available everywhere.
