The project: Faherty needed a front-end developer deeply fluent in their custom Vue.js + Liquid architecture to build new Shopify 2.0 sections for a lookbook launch

The challenge was finding someone who could work within their specific technical constraints, deliver production-ready code meeting their quality standards, and establish trust for an ongoing development relationship.

Midway through the engagement, Faherty began transitioning to a new React-based theme, which increased technical complexity and required a developer who could work confidently across both Vue and React architectures.

We matched them with a developer who had deep Vue.js experience and understood modern Shopify architecture, could deliver clean, maintainable code through GitHub pull request workflows, and communicated proactively to navigate technical challenges and timeline adjustments.

Faherty chose Daniel Perlman, a Shopify developer with over a decade of experience and strong Vue.js skills who has worked with brands like about face and Dabba Drop, who delivered a 2-column lookbook section and editorial product row within their budget, despite technical setup challenges.

THE WORK

Phase 1: Initial Lookbook Components

• Minimalist 2-column layout with background color control, portrait aspect ratio for photos OR videos, basic product title/variant color/pricing + link to PDP
• Repurposed existing product row with editorial photo left on desktop (stacks above on mobile), customizable title/subtitle, up to 2 CTAs, product row with native product cards using existing Swiper functionality
• Navigated complex build process requiring legacy Node/NPM versions
• Used custom build commands: npm run login, npm run shopify-watch, npm run shopify-deploy

Phase 2: Quick Fixes

• Fixed menu issue on Rose Twill variant

Phase 3: Transition to New React Theme

‍As Faherty rebuilt their theme in React, Daniel continued to support the team by contributing to new React components, navigating new architectural patterns, and ensuring compatibility with storewide systems during the transition.
